Baton Rouge Zoo, Savings and Zoo Park Description for 2024


The Baton Rouge Zoo opened its doors to the public in 1970 and is currently home to over 1,800 different animals. It is an accredited zoo of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and was the first zoo to be accredited in Louisiana. Visitors can see many different animals at this zoo including fish, mammals, invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles, and birds.

Those who wish to can also check out the special events the zoo holds as well as rent the zoo for their own private events. This zoo also has many educational events for families and their children.
