Topeka Zoo, Savings and Zoo Park Description for 2019
The Topeka Zoo used to be called the Topeka Zoological Park. The zoo opened its doors within Gage Park in 1933 and has many animal exhibits with 300 different animals. Over the years after it first opened a number of extra exhibits were built and in 1963 the zoo’s first director was hired. Some of the exhibits include the Disappearing Apes, the Black Bear Woods, the Tropical Rainforest, and much more. There are many different events and educational programs as well including camps, zoo overnights, field trips, clubs, and much more. The zoo also allows for people to adopt an animal, ways to volunteer, and a way for anyone to become a member.
